The tracking prefix is how BuzzyPod measures your downloads. It’s a short URL that goes in front of your episode media URL at your podcast host — a one-time copy-and-paste that stays invisible to listeners.

The prefix

The prefix routes each episode request through OP3 (the Open Podcast Prefix Project), an open-source, privacy-respecting analytics service, before instantly passing the listener through to your audio. Listeners notice nothing: playback, speed, and quality are unaffected.

Add it at your host

1

Copy the prefix

In the Add your tracking prefix setup step, click Copy.
2

Paste it at your podcast host

Open your host’s settings and paste the prefix in front of your episode media URL. Most hosts have a dedicated field for this, usually called an analytics prefix, tracking prefix, or pre-roll redirect. Click How to add it on your host in the app, or find your host’s official guide in the Host Setup Guides.
3

Confirm in BuzzyPod

Back in BuzzyPod, click I’ve added the prefix. BuzzyPod starts watching for your first tracked download.
The prefix must be applied to all episodes, not just new ones. Most hosts do this automatically when you use their prefix field. If your host asks you to edit each episode’s media URL manually, make sure the prefix goes at the very front of the URL.

Frequently asked

Does the prefix change my feed or affect listeners? No. Your feed stays at your host, your episodes play exactly as before, and apps like Apple Podcasts and Spotify are unaffected. Is it the same prefix for everyone? Yes — https://op3.dev/e/ is universal. OP3 identifies your show from the episode URL that follows the prefix, so there’s nothing show-specific to configure. I confirmed the step by mistake — the prefix isn’t at my host yet. No harm done: the prefix check simply won’t find any downloads until the prefix is in place. Add it at your host and BuzzyPod will pick it up automatically. Stuck? Email support@buzzypod.com.

Next step

That’s the last piece of setup. Now BuzzyPod waits for your first download — your dashboard goes live the day after it lands, since downloads report on a next-day basis.
